JSON File Opener & Editor

Privacy Policy

Your JSON files stay on your phone.

JSON File Opener & Editor is built by Mahesh Varma for JEWEALITY. This page explains what the app does with information, and what it does not do.

Effective date: Applies to: Android app “JSON File Opener & Editor”

1Overview

JSON File Opener & Editor lets you open, create, view, edit, validate, format, minify, sort and save JSON files that are already on your device or in storage you can access through Android’s file picker.

The app is designed to work offline. It does not have accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not send your JSON documents to any server operated by JEWEALITY.

2Information the app handles

Your documents

The contents of the JSON files you open or create are read on your device so the editor can display and change them. When you save, the app writes the text back to the same file, or to the new location you choose. This content is not uploaded by the app.

Settings and recent files

The app remembers your preferences, such as theme, font size, indentation, line numbers, syntax highlighting, word wrap, and the list of recently used files (file name, file location and the time you opened it). This is stored only on your device.

Advertising identifier

Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may use the Android advertising ID. See section 5.

3How data is stored

  • Settings and the recent-files list are saved in the app’s private storage on your device.
  • Your JSON files remain where they were. The app keeps only the file location so it can open the file again.
  • If you delete a file from the app, it is permanently removed from your storage. This cannot be undone.
  • Uninstalling the app removes its private settings and recent-files list.

4Permissions

  • Internet: needed to load ads. The app does not use the internet for your documents.
  • Advertising ID (AD_ID): lets Google AdMob measure and personalise ads, subject to your device settings and consent.
  • File access (Storage Access Framework): you choose each file yourself through Android’s file picker. The app only reads and writes the files you select.

5Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers and information about how ads are shown and clicked, to deliver and measure ads.

  • A banner ad appears at the bottom of the Home and All files screens.
  • An interstitial ad may appear after you close a document. It never appears when the app starts, while you are typing or saving, and it is limited in how often it is shown.
  • Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area), you are asked for consent through Google’s consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice from the consent option the app shows, or from your device’s settings.

You can limit ad personalisation at any time in your Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads, the exact path depends on your device) and by resetting or deleting your advertising ID. Google’s own policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

6Sharing and third parties

JEWEALITY does not sell your personal information. The only third party integrated in the app is Google AdMob (advertising). When you tap Share in the app, the content you choose is sent to the app you pick, such as a messaging app. When you open a link (privacy policy, Google Play, email), your browser or mail app opens that link, and that service’s own policy applies.

7Security

Your settings and recent-files list are stored in private app storage that other apps cannot read. Keep your device updated and protect it with a lock screen. Keep backups of important JSON files, because deletion from storage is permanent.

8Children

The app is a developer and productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an ad or other service, contact us and we will act on it.

9Your choices and rights

  • Clear the recent-files list at any time in Settings > Data. Your files are not deleted.
  • Change ad consent and ad personalisation through the consent option and your device settings.
  • Uninstall the app to remove its private data from your device.
  • Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or India’s DPDP Act), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you. Write to us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Significant changes will also be shown in the app or on the Google Play listing.
